Private Eyes is a tangled web of suspicion in which nothing is ever quite what it seems. Matthew's wife, Lisa, is having an affair with Adrian, a British theatre director. Or perhaps the affair is part of the play being rehearsed. Or perhaps Matthew has imagined all of it simply to have something to report to Frank, his therapist. And, finally, there is Cory the mysterious woman who seems to shadow the others who brings the story to its surprising conclusion. Or does she? The audience itself plays the role of detective in this hilarious "relationship thriller" about love, lust and the power of deception.

As the Nazis begin their rise to power in Germany in the late 1920s, American writer Clifford Bradshaw arrives in Berlin. He visits the sleazy Kit Kat Club and meets an English singer, Sally Bowles. The writer and singer soon fall in love. Meanwhile, Clifford's elderly landlord, Fraulein Schneider, gets engaged to a Jewish greengrocer, Herr Schultz. Overseeing the action is the Emcee, who presides as master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub.

Upcoming Auditions...

The Barn Players announce AUDITIONS for
The Wiz
A Barn Junior Production (for ages 13-18)
Music & Lyrics by Charlie Smalls
Book by William F. Brown
Directed by Jason Coats

January 15-17, 2010

Auditions: Friday November 6 and Saturday November 7, 6pm-9pm

Auditions for The Barn Players "Barn Jr" production of THE WIZ will be held on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7 from 6:00-9:00 at St. Pius School at 55th and Woodson in Mission, KS, 3rd floor. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to audition. Please have a musical theatre selection of about 32 bars prepared from any show besides THE WIZ. An accompanist will be provided, so it is recommended that you bring sheet music. A capella auditions are discouraged but allowed. Singing to CDs or other prepared music will not be allowed. Auditions may also include cold reads from the script and vocal exercises to determine range.

***NEW THIS YEAR FOR DANCERS!! We are seeking to audition a small group of dancers for this production! If you are interested in auditioning as a dancer, please attend the Saturday evening audition. You may also bring a prepared piece of music, or may choose to sing "My Country Tis of Thee". You will then go through a dance audition with the choreographer. You MAY audition for both dancing and non-dancing roles if you would like. Simply indicate your intention to the stage manager when you arrive.

Resumes are suggested, but not required. Headshots are not required. Please bring a list of all known conflicts with you from auditions to the performance dates of January 15-17. While we strive to accommodate the personal and academic conflicts that naturally exist this time of year and with students in performing arts, understand that your conflict schedule may influence casting choices. No conflicts are allowed tech week; we do accommodate conflicts for preparation for final exams, for the weekend of state thespian convention, and for auditions related to state choir.

Music rehearsals will begin the week following auditions. They will usually run M-F from 6pm-9pm. Not everybody will be called to every rehearsal. There may be some weekend rehearsals as needed. We break for Thanksgiving. During winter break while school is out, we do hold several "rehearsal intensives" from 10am-4pm where much of the show is built.

For more information, or if you would like to audition but are unable to attend either of the open windows, please contact the Barn Players Educational Director, Jason Coats, at barnjr@thebarnplayers.org.
