The Man Who Came To Dinner

Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

A rehearsal of The Man Who Came To Dinner
Left to Right: Bill Pelletier (Sheridan Whiteside), Bob Allen (Mr. Ernest Stanley), Irene Blend (Mrs. Ernest W. Stanley) & Courtney Stephens (Maggie Cutler)

The Barn Players Theatre is proud to bring The Man Who Came To Dinner to the stage this July--a screwball comedy by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart that is a perfect accompaniment to the long, hazy days of summer ahead of us.

The play is set in the small town of Mesalia, Ohio, in the weeks leading to Christmas in the 1930's. The exposition reveals that the famously outlandish radio wit Sheridan Whiteside of New York City was invited to dine at the house of rich factory owner Ernest W. Stanley and his family. However, before Whiteside enters the house, he slips on a patch of ice outside the front door and injures his hip. He is attended by Dr. Bradley, the absent-minded town physician, and Miss Preen, his frantic nurse.

The production is directed by Jessica Franz, and features Bill Pelletier as the irascible Sheridan Whiteside, Courtney Stephens as Maggie Cutler, and Matt Griggs as Bert Jefferson. The cast also includes Nathan Stock; Christina Schafer Martin; Kevan Myers; Irene Blend; Bob Allen; Matt Koenen; Marina Monks; Elizabeth Goetzman; Carol Leighton; Steve Parker; Petra Allen; Nick LaBruzzo; Jen LaBruzzo; Sean Leistico; and Mandy Skeels.

Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays July 11-12, July 18-19, and July 25-26 at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinee performances on June 13, 20 and 27. All performances ar at The Barn Players Theatre, located at 6219 Martway, Mission, Kansas. Tickets are $12 for regular admission; $10 for seniors (age 65 and older); $5 for students with valid student ID; and $8 for groups of 10 or more. Tickets may be purchased at the box office, which opens one hour before curtain time; cash or check only. No credit cards are accepted. The box office opens one hour prior to curtain time.
